Volkswagen e-Golf scores green vehicle award from AAA

Volkswagen of America, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Volkswagen e-Golf SE has earned the Top Green Vehicle award amongst compact cars in the 2017 AAA Green Car Guide. Of the 21 compact cars reviewed, the e-Golf scored highest amongst its competitors based on a total point score in 13 different attributes including, but not limited to: slalom handling, visibility, EPA emissions, ride quality and interior noise. Herndon, VA – Volkswagen is adding the avant-garde Arteon Gran Turismo to its lineup and will reveal the vehicle to a global audience for the first time at the Geneva International Motor Show (9 to 19 March). Volkswagen Head Designer Klaus Bischoff says: “The Arteon combines the design elements of a classic sports car with the elegance and space of a fastback. It’s an avant-garde business-class Gran Turismo that speaks to the heart and head alike.”

Tobias Sühlmann, responsible for the Arteon’s exterior design, further explains: “The athletic lines of the Arteon embody a highly functional overall concept. Form and function find common ground here in a progressive way. Thanks to its long wheelbase, stretched roofline, coupe-style fastback design and large rear hatch, this Gran Turismo provides more space and flexibility than conventional sedans. (more…)

VW Golf Alltrack named 2017 Canadian Car of the Year

The Volkswagen Golf Alltrack won the prestigious 2017 Canadian Car of the Year award from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) today at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto. Volkswagen and Tennessee to partner on science program

Volkswagen Group of America, Chattanooga Operations (Volkswagen Chattanooga) and the State of Tennessee announced the establishment of a $1 million program that will allow Hamilton County middle and high schools to apply for funds to create a science lab in their school.

Named the Volkswagen eLabs, the program will allow students to gain access to emergent technologies, including automated manufacturing equipment, 3D printers, robotics, programmable microcomputers, renewable energy kits and other science-related activities.

“At Volkswagen Chattanooga, hands-on learning is a crucial part of our educational programs and we are very pleased to partner with the State of Tennessee to bring the opportunity for laboratory-based science exploration to engage the minds of students here in Hamilton County,” said Christian Koch, President and CEO of Volkswagen Chattanooga. “Volkswagen places the highest priority on education at all levels and we are proud to continue our support for education here in Tennessee,” Koch said.
